Lesson

Till now, two kinds of people have been discussed in the Holy Qur’-aan:

·         The Believers – The Obedient of the Law of God Almighty.

·         The Infidels - who denied the law of God Almighty.

Now description of a third kind of the people has been starting. These people are enemies also and opposite to Islam. But they put the veil of deception on their enmity. They claim by their tongues that they are Muslims but have infidelity in their hearts. In the term of Holy Qur-’aan, they are called Hypocrites. It is the hypocrisy that a person proclaims that Islam is a good religion, but keeps against it evil and infidelity hidden in his heart.

When Islam proclaimed the fidelities of Belief in Allah Almighty and in the Day of Resurrection, then it was necessary for him who desired to become a Muslim that he would have agreed to these both Beliefs. Therefore, a special group from the people of Madinah wished by declaring themselves believers in these both faiths, so that they may join the Muslim community by cheating. They were included in Muslim Community but they were not sincere. It was incumbent to be saved from their tricks. Therefore, the Holy Qur-’aan itself informed the Muslims that they didn’t believe in these fidelities. So, Muslims must be cautious from them (hypocrites).

It is known that it was sign of a hypocrite during those days that “they used to claim their faith in these fidelities of Islam by their tongue, but their hearts did not accept it”. If, even nowadays, someone’s outward appearance and inward qualities are not the same, then he should correct and settle himself. As long the tongue and the heart (both) are not alike, till that time, the belief cannot be produced, but this condition is of the hypocrisy.

Companions (may God be pleased with them) of the Holy Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to keep themselves settled always besides their nobility and excellence. It was the reason that they were on the higher degrees of Belief and Sincerity. Allah Almighty bestowed them higher ranks and favored them with success.
