The likeness of that which they spend in this life of the world is as
the likeness of a biting, icy wind which smiteth the harvest of a People who
have wronged themselves, and devastateth it. And Allah wronged them not, but
they do wrong themselves.

Commentary
The End of the
Infidels has been described in this verse that whatever the wealth they spend
in the world, it would not have any value on the Day of Resurrection, because
due to lack of faith, their each deed is useless and dead.
Thus, its meed would
also be perishable and they will get it only in this world. Belief is the
protector of acts forever. Likeness of the acts without faith is as someone
planted a garden and did not arrange to protect it from the frost. Looking at
the garden’s prosperity and greenness, he used to be happy for a few days and
rely on it very much. Suddenly a biting, icy wind blows and it smites his
entire blooming garden and harvest. That person remained losing his destruction
and ruin. Neither his hope was fulfilled and nor he could reap any advantage
from its production at the time of necessity. This destruction was a punishment
of his oppression and wickedness. Therefore, he will not be able to get any
meed/reward upon this calamity in the Hereafter.
Ka-masli
riihin- (likeness of wind) Alms and charity giving by the
disbelievers has been explained as such a gust of air, which contains biting
and icy wind. It means, “That air which becomes cause of suffering and
destruction in place of delight and merriment”. Apparently, the human
beings trust in it, but in fact its result comes out opposite.
The disbelievers of Allah Almighty do well
(according to their thoughts) and spend money on good deeds. Apparently, the
observer expects good results from it but really, it is not as such. When
greatest services of a disloyal and rebellious cannot save him from the
punishment of the sin of violence in the world then how the disbelievers may be
saved from the punishment in the court of Most Strong Ruler, Allah Almighty?
