51. O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the

Commentary
‘Awli-yaaa-‘u –
(friends), it is plural of walii. Walii means “the
best friend, the partial, the helper, the well-wisher and the confident”.
We recited in the previous
verse that the Muslim nation is for introducing the commands of Holy Qur’aan in
the world. There is no work of this nation other than it. When the nation of
Muslims began to come into existence and prevail the Qur’aanic Law
gradually, then the people of all around, who were interested in their own
worldly gains and did not like to see anyone powerful than themselves, observed
their clear death in the progress of the Muslims. So they decided, “It is our
duty to oppose Islam until we are living, happen what may”. They were caused to
know very much that Islam desires to teach the entire world a best method of
dwelling. So they should not go against it. But bandage of selfishness was
dressed on their eyes. They were unable to observe anything other than their
own loss in Islam.
They listened to nothing. Their
only purpose was, “The good should be ours only, whether any other dies or
lives”. It was open announcement of Islam, “The good should be for all. Nobody
can suppress any other. The entire human beings should live with kindness and goodness”.
Accordingly, two big groups of humankind were born in the world forever; the
Believers i.e. the well-wishers for all equally and the Disbelievers i.e.
well-wishers for themselves only. It is the biggest difference between a
Believer and a Disbeliever. The Jews and the Christians decided to co-operate
with the Disbelievers (Infidels), whereas it was not expected from them,
because they had the Torah and the Bible. And the Holy Qur’aan was
protector of original verses of all former Scriptures. It could be hoped that
they would be partial of the Muslims immediately. But it was happened that an
evil spirit of selfishness rode upon them too. Moreover, these people became
more selfish than the entire disbelievers. The history of the world is evident
that instead of being partial of Islam by understanding it, on the contrary,
they tried to mislead the Muslims also to astray, because the selfishness pulls
the human being towards itself easily.
