Commentary

Kalimatin – (a Word), according to Holy Qur’an and Sayings of the Last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) has been named as KalimatUllah. As the title of Angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) is Ruuhul Qudus, just like this KalimatUllah is the title of Messenger Jesus (peace be upon him). Even in this manner, the Words of Allah Almighty are uncountable, but Jesus (peace be upon him) is specifically called KalimatUllah for the reason that his birth was without father, only by the Command of Allah Almighty, contrary to the custom. The matter, which will be contrary to reason, custom and rules, will be attributed directly to God Almighty.

‘Al-Masiihu – (the Messiah), this Hebrew word is a form of the word ‘Maasheikh or ‘Mashiihaa, which means, “auspicious, sacred, blessed, happy and august” etc. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is remembered usually with this name.

‘Iisabnu-Maryama – (it is the second name of Messiah), ‘Iisaa has come out from the Hebrew word ‘Iishuu’, which means Sayyid (A lord, prince, chief, a descendant). Here this matter needs close attention that Holy Qur’an has kept particularly the word “’ibni-Maryam” as a part of the name of ‘Iisaa (Jesus) (peace be upon him). Therefore, his (peace be upon him) lineage will remain always towards his mother, Mary (peace be upon her). Likewise, to disclose the greatness of Mary (peace be upon her) her name has been made a part of the name of Jesus (peace be upon him) for ever.

When glad tidings of Jesus (peace be upon him) was given to Mary (peace be upon her), then it was possible that she would have confused that, “How the people will accept him (Jesus) without father? In addition, they will calumniate in various ways. How would I be able to announce about my chastity? Allah Almighty explained, “O Mary! Be satisfied, I shall bestow him great honor; not only in the Hereafter but also in this world and prove that their entire charges are false. Your son will be most polite and righteous of higher degree. He will be still an infant that talk to the people (in the cradle). You will have nothing to speak about your chastity and acquittal; you would have to say only, “I have fasted today, can not speak, the child (in his cradle) will speak himself unto you, and even during his manhood he will describe the people about God Almighty”.
